Did you know that WordPress is said to be powering over a third of the web? WordPress’ domain (pun intended) over how content is managed, organised and displayed to web users is impressive. According to w3techs.com in November 2020, its success was highlighted with 39% of the top 10 million web sites they monitor were all using WordPress.
Let that sink in for a while.
That is a huge market share for software that is free for anyone to use.
WordPress’ success is a great credit to its creators and all the individuals who create and maintain its core engine and the thousands of themes and plugins that make up the WordPress ecosystem.

The company behind wordpress.com, Automattic, who also contribute to WordPress provide a number of freemium products including an eCommerce plugin called WooCommerce.
Internet technologies monitoring site Dtanyse.com measures WooCommerce as the biggest market leader in eCommerce platforms with a share of over 28%. Arguably, the share is larger as Dtanyse list older versions of WooCommerce separately. Either-way, 28% is an impressive figure.
